Rules for naming stock short names (HK stocks)

For detailed naming rules, please refer to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange


1. Equity Securities

Q-up to eight characters, representing the name of the listed company

S-secondary listing symbol

W-company symbol for weighted voting rights structure

B-Symbol of biochemical technology company

R-Renminbi trading symbol

RS-Securities defined as restricted (RS) securities by the US Federal Securities Act

Note:

The above-mentioned naming rules for the renminbi traded product stock short names took effect on May 23, 2012. The stock short names of related products listed before May 23, 2012 remain unchanged.

During the parallel trading period, if any, there will be symbols used to identify the original stock page and temporary stock page.


2. Hong Kong Depositary Receipts

Q-Up to five characters, representing the issuer and/or the underlying stock

DR-depositary receipt representative symbol

S-secondary listing symbol

Note: There is no Chinese stock short name for the depositary receipts defined as restricted securities by the US Federal Securities Law.


3. Equity warrants

Q-Up to five characters, representing the name of the relevant stock

Y for year-expiry year

M for Month-expiry month


4. Stapled Securities

Q-Up to five characters, representing the name of the relevant stock

SS-Symbol for Stapled Securities


5. Securities code allocation plan
